The Happiest Saddest Day of my Life!
As you read this, I am pretty sure you know the roles and responsibilities of a dad. You may understand with it is like to have (or not have) a father/dad. He may have been the greatest dad in the world or the worst one. He may have attended every sporting event you participated in or he may have been the absentee father. Maybe he acknowledge you to everyone or maybe you had no idea who he was.
The job description of a dad is flexible and changes for everyone. Some men take this job description very seriously and others could probably care less. To some it is more than providing financial responsibility to others it may mean a direct deposit withdrawal every month.
The role of a Spiritual Father is somewhat different from a biological or adopted father although there are many similarities. A spiritual father brings spiritual covering and protection to his sons and daughters in the faith. Paul referred to both Timothy and Titus as his “spiritual” sons in 2 Timothy 1:2 and Titus 1:4. Paul spoke in the spiritual sense of having fathers in the faith in 1 Corinthians 4:15 and Philippians 2:19-22. Jesus even calls Himself a father in Hebrews 2:13.
Spiritual Fathers raise their children up spiritually. They pour out Biblical knowledge, understanding, wisdom and counsel. They teach us how to know the Lord, and fulfilling the call of God on our lives. They set the example of Jesus Christ by living a life that is exemplary and untainted. They carry their sons and daughters in a higher level of maturity with Christ through, prayers, words, actions and sound doctrine. They always point us to the Father who is the base and the boundary, the sum and the circumference of our Faith.
They are not tyrants, dictators, or our god. They are not controlling, lovers of men or focused on financial gain from their children. They are transparent with their flaws and quick to ask forgiveness. They are not interested in building numbers in their church membership but building numbers in the kingdom of God.
Apostle Nate Holcomb of the Christian House of Prayer Killeen, Texas was an example, ensample, mentor, model and motivator of a true spiritual father. For 22 years under his teachings, his message always stayed the same; “It’s All About Him” – Jesus Christ.
He dedicated my children and later baptized them when they came into their own knowledge and understanding of who Jesus Christ was in their lives. He prayed for us and prayed with us. He wept when we wept and celebrated our victories in Christ. His joy was seeing souls led to Christ through the Word of God. He exemplified long-suffering, love, joy, peace, gentleness, meekness, humility, grace, temperance and faith.
On November 27th Bishop Holcomb transitioned from death to life. Bishop is where we strive to be, long to be, and hope to be. My heart is heavy but it’s light. I am happy but I am sad. I rejoice but I weep. I am glad he is in heaven with the Father but I miss him on earth. I know that he is “kicking up gold dust 100 mph” and wouldn’t come back if he could, but I wish I could hug him one more time. But he always taught us, “It is not how close I can get you to me, it is how close I can get you to Him.” I am fully persuaded that I will see him again on Heaven’s side because he taught me about Jesus and led me to Him.
Because of his sound teachings, I have full assurance of where I am going when my time on earth is over, but do you know where you will spend eternity? If you don’t know the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, I encourage you to accept Him into your heart right now because tomorrow is not promised. He loves you so much He died on the cross for you. There is nothing you can do to get into heaven, you can’t get yourself right, you can’t wait until you get it all together because you will NEVER get it together. Today I invite you to accept Christ into your heart and acknowledge He died, He was buried and He was resurrected FOR YOU!
Romans 10:9 New King James Version (NKJV) says, “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
That’s it!! All you have to do is confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for you! He suffered FOR YOU! He died FOR YOU! He rose FOR YOU! To reserve your place with the Father and the Son, repeat the prayer below and believe it in your heart.
Dear Lord
I admit that I am a sinner. I have done many things that don’t please you. I am sorry, and I repent. I ask you to forgive me. Please forgive me. Come into my life. I believe that you died on the cross for me, to save me. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life. From this day forward, help me to live every day for you and in a way that pleases you. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. I love you, Lord, and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you.

Real easy huh? Now find yourself a Bible believing church where the Word of God is being taught accurately, spiritually and with truth! Join that ministry, get involved in the ministry, get yourself a Bible and begin to study the Word for yourself. Believe it or not - all of life’s solutions can be found between the pages of those 66 books! Life will not be simple and easy but when you are facing it with Jesus, it becomes bearable.
