Got a Headache?

Recently the family and I decided to go on a vacation in sunny Florida. My son Micah has always loved the water and he would often leave the condo to go sit on the beach before the rest of the family was awake. This particular morning when I woke up, my husband was cooking breakfast, our youngest daughter was watching television on the couch, our oldest son was ironing his clothes and our middle child was feeding my granddaughter on the love seat.

I entered the room and said, “Where is Micah?” My husband replied, “He should be on the beach.” In an effort to make sure I had an eye on his whereabouts I decided to walk to the balcony said and see if I could locate him. I quickly walk toward the balcony because I dislike the fact that my son has left the home without telling anyone where he was going. As I prepare to go out to the balcony, I didn’t realize the balcony glass sliding doors were shut! The glass was cleaned so well it looked as if the doors were open! I ran into that sliding door so hard, my glasses were twisted on my face, my sun-brim hat was sitting crookedly on the side of my head and I was swiping imaginary flies in front of my face! I literally had knocked myself DELIRIOUS! Those that did not see what happened such as my husband, HEARD it in the other room! I left my forehead imprint on the door and gave myself a nice little knot upside my head. By this time, the daughter Mercedes has slid to the floor laughing hysterically with my granddaughter. My daughter Melody has ran out of the room doubled over with laughter! My son Dominique is just standing there with the iron in his hand repeating the phrase, “Did that just happen” over and over. My husband Mack is standing in the kitchen with a frying pan in one hand and his mouth gaped open imagining what happened based upon the sound he heard and I am still swatting invisible flies and trying to affix my glasses back on my face. I suffered from a possible concussion and several days of headaches!

I say all of that to say this: Many times in life we are looking at something with think is a Fact we fail to see the Truth. There is a revelation of a difference. Fact: I had an unobstructed view outside. Truth: The door was shut!

Webster’s dictionary defines Fact as: a piece of information presented as having objective reality or an actual occurrence. It defines Truth as: the body of real things, events, and facts or a transcendent fundamental or spiritual reality. You may ask, “What is the difference?” The Spirit makes the difference.

Let’s go through a few Facts vs Truth:

Fact: You were physically, emotionally, mentally or sexually abused.

Truth: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Fact: Doctors have declared there is nothing that can be done regarding your illness.

Truth: “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24.

Fact: You have less than $100 in your bank.

Truth: “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

For every hard Fact we face in life, God has given us His Truth in His Word. Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? So the next time a FACT hits you in the head, search God’s Word for the TRUTH!
